I'm glad your script extender is working for you. It's simpler, quicker, and less confusing than the Knowledge Base instructions. Any help would be appreciated.įrankly, I like the installation procedure that HadToRegister described above. Instructions say to create a "data" folder, but it doesn't say where. MAKE PRIMARY, shown below, it's the top selection, I put EDIT inside a red box for a different tutorial (See my screenshot to see FOSE is Primary with the little banner) It should end up with a little banner on it, showing it's primary, which means it will run if you start SSE with Vortex. But there is a learning curve that I'm struggling with as far as installing tools like SKSE.Ĭlick on the little Folder icon in the TARGET field,īrowse to Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition and select SKSE64_Loader.exeīe sure to make it PRIMARY, by selecting the three little vertical DOts next to the play |> button, and select "Make Primary" Any help would be appreciated.Īs a side note I'm finding Vortex better than NMM, the interface is much nicer. Obviously, Vortex can't find the executable for SKSE. I'm sure I missed a step somewhere, but not sure where. I get the error message: "Executable dosen't exist, please check the configuration for info tool".

But when using the install instructions in Vortex, I can't get it to run from within Vortex. I can install & run skse the old fashion way by copying the files to the SSE folder. After getting the correct file it now works in its full glory.Įdited by NicolV, 09 December 2018 - 07:51 PM.

now works but now it says my Skyrim is outdated.įinal Fix: Seemed there were more archives to choose from than i knew, for anyone having it say that you need to update your skyrim check the other Script ext. Or i thought i could launch it normally via skse_loader.exe but that says it can't find the TESV.exe so then i went and renamed it to TESV and then it says please update Skyrim version.

How can i set the launch options for this or is there something that i missed completely? I tried (or rather i believe i succeeded in installing script extender as per the norm.) before i noticed i still can't figure out how to set vortex or nmm to use the script ext. I can launch the game from the script ext.
I believe i understand the top level that's being referred to as the highest level of the folder before it changes the directory. Some have taken its introduction to Steam to mean paid mods are coming back, but that was quickly dispelled.Hi, i followed the instructions at the Tool Setup( ) but it doesn't seem to be working.
SKSE had to make a statement during the paid mods apocalypse about both never charging and never taking a cut of mods that used it.

Obviously, any discussion of Skyrim mods on Steam now comes with a rather large amount of paid mod baggage.
Because of what SKSE does - adding code to Skyrim to let it handle more complicated commands - it has to be a separate app that installs to the Skyrim directory. One of the developers took to Reddit to explain why SKSE can't be on Workshop itself. As the vast majority of complex mods use SKSE and many of them are present in the Workshop, this was proving a hassle. You can also still get the mod from its web download page, but what's cool about this is there's now no need to leave Steam's interface to get all your mods running. You have to have the Steam overlay running to make use of the additional functionality, unless you can be bothered navigating to the folder and launching it separately. It's now available on Steam as a free addon that will install to your Skyrim folder and, according to the description, automatically run whenever you load up the game. Yes, even those ones you keep in the folder marked My Faxes, on the other drive. Skyrim Script Extender, or SKSE to its sexy friends, is one of the most useful tools for making Skyrim do all the things you want it to with all those mods you use.
